The St. Louis Arc recognizes the following reputable organizations through which additional information on fetal alcohol exposure may be obtained. This list is not intended to be all inclusive, but rather designed to support the user in locating additional resources. Local Resources

Capable Kids and Families

Capable Kids and Families is a program designed to promote early intervention by providing children, ages birth to seven years, and families with developmentally appropriate toys and therapeutic equipment, on loan, free-of-charge. Additionally, the program connects families to community resources that meet their needs, and facilitates network building, advocacy, and supportive friendships among parents.

Embedded Early Learning Model (Childcare Center Specific)

A direct and consultative service model designed to provide an on the site comprehensive support to teachers in community-based, inclusive early childhood settings.

Parents Learning Together

Parenting and heading a household is a challenge for anyone, but when you’re a parent with an intellectual or developmental disability, the need for parenting support and education is critical. Parents Learning Together (PLT) helps parents who have intellectual or developmental disabilities to safely and successfully raise their children and to support the children’s health, education and development.

Epworth Children and Family Services

Founded in 1864, Epworth is a multiservice agency that seeks to empower youth who have experienced trauma to realize their unique potential by meeting essential needs, cultivating resiliency, and building community. Thousands of youth and families turn to Epworth each year for a full range of services including: therapeutic foster care and case management; residential and intensive treatment; individual/family therapy and comprehensive psychological testing; emergency shelter and longer-term housing services; life skills and vocational training; as well as crisis care and outreach through the Drop-In Center, food pantry, and 24-hour crisis help-line. Epworth is headquartered at 110 N. Elm Ave. in Webster Groves, Missouri and has locations in Normandy and South St. Louis City.

Lutheran Family Children’s Services of Missouri

Lutheran Family & Children’s Services offers solution-focused services for families through counseling, respite care, pregnancy counseling and case management with the goal of achieving a healthy and stable home environment.

Special School District of St. Louis County

Special School District of St. Louis County, the largest specialized education provider in the state, equips and empowers students of all learning abilities to excel to their greatest potential. This is realized through an inclusive, collaborative approach, supported by our comprehensive resources and deep expertise – all of which is centered on each student’s unique needs.

Missouri First Steps Early Intervention

First Steps is Missouri’s Early Intervention system that provides services to families with children, birth to three years of age, with disabilities or developmental delays. The program is designed to meet the needs of families related to enhancing their child’s development, learning, and participation in family and community life.

Nurses for Newborns Missouri

Nurses for Newborns (NFN) provides critical healthcare services through our Nurse Home Visiting Program to infants and expecting mothers who experience a wide range of medical, economic, environmental, and social risks. We are protecting babies, empowering families, and addressing community needs. NFN services are provided at NO COST and are VOLUNTARY

FASD United empowers people living with FASD and prenatal substance exposure to educate systems of care and the public, enact policies, and unite communities everywhere.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders Home Page

Comprehensive information on FASDs including surveillance, research, prevention, and intervention activities at the National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities in the area of fetal alcohol spectrum disorder.  Site also contains free materials.

FAS Family Resource Institute

A non-profit who works to identify, understand and care for individuals affected by prenatal alcohol exposure and their families, and to prevent future incidence.

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Consultation, Education and Training Services, Inc. (FASCETS)

A private non-profit whose services are designed to increase understanding, build on strengths, expand options for developing effective parenting and professional techniques, enhance existing programs and support the development of new programs.

National FASD Collaborative Project

A cross-organization national initiative to increase high-quality support and training options for the FASD community. Free webinars, support groups, and continuing education.

Proof Alliance

Proof Alliance programs are designed to create lasting impact through education, resources and support for those impacted by by fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD). From community outreach and family support to training and advocacy, each of our initiatives empowers individuals and strengthens communities.
